Vinicius : Messi Doesn't Scare Real Madrid

Vinicius Junior has boldly declared that Lionel Messi does not scare Real Madrid, with the Blancos preparing for back-to-back Clasico clashes with Barcelona and their talismanic skipper.


The first of those fixtures is set to be staged on Wednesday, as Santiago Bernabeu plays host to the second leg of a Copa del Rey semi-final.


That contest, which is currently locked at 1-1, will be followed on Saturday by another derby duel in the Spanish capital.


Madrid head into those outings short of their best, but the same could be said of Barca.


Vinicius insists the Blancos, who edged out Levante in their most recent outing to remain nine points adrift of their arch-rivals in the Liga title race , are ready for the challenges to come.


He told reporters: “We're ready for El Clasico.


“There's two in one week and we know all football fans look forward to them.


“I can't wait to play in it, it's a very important match. Every player would love to be involved in a Clasico!”


The Brazilian youngster added: “Messi is always there. He's an incredible player but we aren't scared of anybody.


“We're ready and have the best players in the world.”

Former Man Utd Defender To Be New Feyenoord Coach

Feyenoord have confirmed Jaap Stam will replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst as the club’s new coach in the summer. Van Bronckhorst announced in January that he would be leaving his position at the end of the season, with former Manchester United defender Stam being appointed as his successor on a two-year contract. Stam only took charge at PEC Zwolle in December on an 18-month contract, but revealed that he could not turn down the opportunity to coach Feyenoord. “I really enjoy PEC Zwolle, but, for every ambitious coach, if the opportunity arises to work at a club like Feyenoord, you will seriously think about it,” Stam told Feyenoord’s official website. “After good and open conversations with (technical director) Martin van Geel about the possibilities and impossibilities at Feyenoord, I soon found out that I would like to go for this opportunity."

Pochettino Given Match Touchline Ban

Mauricio Pochettino has been handed a two-match touchline ban by the Football Association following his angry exchange with referee Mike Dean after Tottenham's defeat to Burnley last month. The Spurs manager approached the official at the end of his side's 2-1 defeat at Turf Moor in the Premier League on February 23 and continued his tirade despite being told to walk away. Pochettino was seemingly initially angered by a decision to award a corner from which the Clarets opened the scoring through Chris Wood, though his mood appeared to worsen by something Dean said in response. The Argentine later apologised and accepted that he had "made a mistake", but the FA decided to hit Pochettino with a misconduct charge that he has accepted, leading to a two-match touchline ban and £10,000 fine. An FA statement read: "Mauricio Pochettino has been fined £10,000 and will serve a two-match touchline ban following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing."

Man City Outcast Mangala Handed Ccontract Extension

Manchester City have handed a one-year contract extension to Eliaquim Mangala despite the defender not featuring in Pep Guardiola's first-team plans. Mangala last played a Premier League match for City in a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace in December 2017. The French centre-back was then sent on loan to Everton, where he suffered a serious knee ligament injury in his second match. The 28-year-old has not featured for City in any competition this season but recently returned to training and the club confirmed his terms had been extended beyond June 2019 in a short statement. "Eliaquim Mangala has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at Manchester City until 2020," it read.

CR7 Injury Scare for Juventus

Juventus have been left sweating on the fitness of star man Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Portuguese set to undergo tests on an ankle injury. The former Real Madrid man picked up a knock to his left ankle during the Bianconeri's 1-0 win over Bologna on Sunday. But concerns have grown since then, with Ronaldo unable to participate in full training with the rest of the Juve squad on Wednesday, and will now be further examined by the Serie A champions' medical team. Fellow forward Douglas Costa also trained separately on Wednesday, with a club statement reading: "Both Douglas Costa and Cristiano Ronaldo trained seperately from the group. "For CR7, check-ups have been scheduled for today and tomorrow following a knock to his left ankle during the game against Bologna." The injury could not come at a worse time for Massimiliano Allegri's side as they enter a crucial period in their season.
