Man Utd Squad for PSG Champions League Clash Confirmed

-

Manchester United are without a host of first-team stars for their Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain, with the likes of Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Ander Herrera again missing out.

The trio were also absent from United's 3-2 win over Southampton on Saturday, with youngsters Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong named on the bench for that game.

Here is the squad:
Keepers: De Gea, Romero, Grant.

Denders: Bailly, Dalot, Lindelof, Rojo, Shaw, Smalling, Williams, Young.

Midfielders: Fred, Garner, Gomes, McTominay, Pereira.

Forwards: Chong, Greenwood, Lukaku, Rashford.

Klopp Backs Liverpool to Fight Back

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes his players can still win the Premier League despite surrendering their advantage at the division’s summit. It was a disappointing weekend for Liverpool, who suffered a frustrating afternoon against Everton on Sunday, when they played out a goalless draw at Goodison Park. Just the day before Manchester City had moved two points clear of Klopp’s men at the top of the table with a 1-0 win against Bournemouth, meaning with nine games left, the reigning champions are in the driving seat to win the Premier League. Klopp has not lost faith in his players or the club’s hopes of ending their 29-year wait to win England’s top division. “I don’t think I have to give my players advice, because they know it already,” the German said after Sunday’s game. “We are not little boys any more. It’s not like we were completely surprised that we can play good football, that we are in the very, very top part of the table. But if you are there, you have to...

Pochettino : "Spurs are Good Enough to Win the UCL"

Mauricio Pochettino insists Tottenham believe they can topple any team in Europe ahead of the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at Borussia Dortmund. Belief remains high going into Tuesday's showdown at Signal Iduna Park as the north London club look to secure their spot in the competition's last eight. "In a competition like the Champions League or Europa League or the domestic cups you need not only to win games, you need to be more than lucky sometimes to arrive to play the final," Pochettino told a pre-match news conference when asked whether Spurs can go all the way "I think many circumstances are involved where sometimes you can arrive to play a final and maybe are not the best team." "Always for me the most important is the Premier League or the Bundesliga. The most consistent team always wins and the best team always beats the other 19 opponents." "The belief, of course, is that we can beat any team, But now I think w...

Reports: Atletico Want Eriksen If James Deal Falls Through

-

Christian Eriksen might end up in the Spanish capital after all, but it's Atletico Madrid who are now linked with a move for the Dane should they not be able to finalise a move for James Rodriguez this summer. The Colombian is the priority, but the Tottenham playmaker is a Plan B worth considering and one that hasn't been ruled out. It has to be remembered that although James himself is open to moving to the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, a move can only happen if Real Madrid are willing to negotiate with their cross-city rivals and agree an affordable deal, with Napoli now seemingly priced out. Fearing that Madrid will ask for too much, Diego Simeone, Miguel Angel Gil Marin and Andrea Berta have put the possibility of the Danish international on the table. Eriksen is determined not to extend his Spurs contract, which ends in 2020, and has been on Los Blancos' radar for some time, but Zinedine Zidane doesn't want him in his squad.

Sanchez Off With Knee Problem as Man Utd Woes Mount

-
Image
Alexis Sanchez was forced off injured during Manchester United's Premier League clash with Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday. With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men trailing 1-0 early in the second half, the Chile international appeared to hurt his knee in a collision with Jan Bednarek in the Saints box. He was immediately replaced by Diogo Dalot. It was a blow that appears to put the former Arsenal attacker's participation in Wednesday's Champions League last-16 second leg against Paris Saint-Germainat Parc des Princes in grave doubt. The Red Devils have been luckless on the injury front in recent weeks, losing Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard to muscular injuries in the first leg against PSG before Solskjaer was forced to make three changes in the first half of last weekend's scoreless home draw against Liverpool.

Fernandinho & Laporte Doubtful for City's Weekend Tie

-

Gabriel Jesus and John Stones are available for Manchester City's Premier League trip to Bournemouth but Pep Guardiola will not be able to call upon Fernandinho and Aymeric Laporte until next month. Jesus and Stones have not featured for City since the 4-1 FA Cup fifth-round win at Newport County due to respective hamstring and groin complaints. The pair are back in training ahead of Saturday's match at the Vitality Stadium but Jesus' Brazilian compatriot Fernandinho and Stones' fellow centre-back Laporte remain sidelined with the injuries they sustained during last weekend's Carabao Cup final triumph over Chelsea. Speaking at a news conference, Guardiola confirmed suggestions he made earlier this week – that Fernandinho's groin problem and Laporte's hamstring setback will keep them out of action until after the March international break. "I think after the international break they will be fit, especially Fernandinho," he said. "M...
